30 In 30, Day 30 - "What's Up?" By Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Day 30 -  I did a quick watercolor of this kitten. I might need to make some adjustments later with the color but this is far as I am going to do tonight.
Thank you, again, Leslie for your wonderful 30 In 30 Paint Challenge. I was inspired to pull out my watercolors  after seeing  Verna Pooler's  and Jennifer Thompson's  gorgeous work.  I have already sold several cards of the watercolor cats from this challenge and put some in a gallery.

30 In 30, Day 30 - "Sunflowers and Heirloom Tomato" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 30 - I didn't get 30-in-30 done BUT I definitely feel a renewed sense of artistic purpose that I don't think would have happened otherwise. The bigger challenge will be to keep at it! I started the month having not painted much this past year; and turning out some pretty pathetic efforts, I might add. Even though I still see plenty of flaws, I have an idea what to do next time, and for the first time in a long time, I am looking forward to next time!

30 In 30, day 30 - "Rainy Day" By Verna Pooler

Day 30 - I am here in Woodburn looking out at rain. A brief rainbow was followed my heavy rain. Shall I wait for sun? Rain is forecasted for day. Better head home or at least part way home. Enjoy being dry, as we will not see sunshine till later in the week.

30 in 30, Day 29 - " Down By The Pond" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 29 - Mom and Lisa left this morning so I am in the post-company let-down. Decided to try some "plein aire" from the cab of the truck on this blustery, early Fall day.

30 In 30, Day 25 - "Felys' II" By Eva Marie Tanner-klaas

Day 25 - I had this sitting around and decided to finish it.  I didn't like the composition so it has sat in my studio for a while. It was time to just finish it. This is another study of Fely's Cafe and Laundromat at the Brookings/Harbor Port.

30 In 30, Day 25 - "Teapot Dome Service Station" National Historic Site - Zillah, WA. By Jennifer Thompson

Day 25 - Another fun plein aire day with Mom! The Teapot Dome scandal of the early 1920's had to do with oil reserves and government corruption. Times truly have not changed all that much. The Teapot Dome Service Station was built in the early 1920's as a response to the scandal and as advertising for the station, I am sure!

30 In 30, Day 20 - "Arch Rock" By Verna Pooler

Day 20 - This painting has a history..I started it 2 days ago, when I had an emergency.  I arrived back home with too many hard edges. I washed off the painting. Learned a lesson.  The paint acts differently to scrubbed paper. It was done on a quarter sheet.

30 In 30, Day 18 - "Another Arch Rock" By Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Day 18 - Not my best effort but an effort none the less. I tried several compositions for this popular attraction known as Arch Rock. I painted trees around it and scraped them out. Then I tried a smaller version and that didn't work. I will get a good design eventually because I am not giving up... yet.

30 In 30, Day 17 - "Canned Pears" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 17 -  First attempt at painting glass. It was an interesting idea but the execution was less than successful. I should have taken more time with it and definitely should have thought out the background before I started.

30 In 30, Day 17 - "Fely's Cafe" by Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Day 17 - This is Fely's Cafe in Brookings/Harbor, Oregon. It is a cafe and laundromat located at the port with the best ocean view in Oregon.
I painted over an old, used canvas to practice blocking in big shapes and using a limited palette. I had fun with it. When the sun comes out, I am heading down to the port and paint this a few more times.

30 In 30, Day 12 - "Arch Rock" By Verna Pooler

Day 12- The weather man did not want to cooperate with me.  Upon rising it was foggy, sketched from photos, went to luncheon meeting, drove up the coast...still foggy.  Sketched at Arch Rock and waited till after dinner to paint.  Some days are just better than other.

30 In 30, Day 11 - "From the Air, II: Swan Neck Slough" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 11 -  Swan Neck Slough is off the Tolovana River west of Fairbanks, AK. The mountains in the distance are the Rampart Mountains and the bigger one, Baldry Mountain. Just beyond is the village of Rampart. Beyond and a bit left is the village of Tanana,at the confluence of the Tanana and Yukon Rivers. I used to fly out to Tanana, as a passenger, at least once a week when I worked for the FAA up there. Swan Neck Slough was a uniquely identifiable landscape feature, important in navigating in a time before widespread GPS!
