30 In 30, Day 7- A View From Arch Rock - By Verna Pooler

Day 7 - It was another beautiful morning on the Oregon coast.  With sunshine, it was off to Arch Rock.  The view to the north was full of sunshine.  After painting, I took photos.

30 In 30, Day 6 - Whaleshead Beach, Brookngs, OR By Verna Pooler

Day 6 - What a perfect day...sun is out and no fog. It felt like a little bit of heaven. Early morning beach is deserted.  Today I painted on Arches rough watercolor block. 7"x10". Wish you could have joined me.

30 In 30, Day 6 - "Another Day At Whaleshead" By Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Day 6 - I am still loving this spot so it is "Another Day At Whaleshead" just north of Brookings, OR.
I painted this from a higher viewpoint and I noticed Verna Pooler, another plein air painter, way down below at the beach painting a watercolor.
Great minds think alike.

30 In 30, Day 5 - "Lone Ranch" By Verna Pooler

Day 5 - This is a painting from a photo taken at Lone Ranch, when my daughter Lisa and her family were here last month. Water is going to get the best of me! But, I enjoyed painting:)

30 In 30, Day 5 - "Day At The Beach" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 5 - In trying to paint loose, I have succeeded only in being sloppy. I took my time today and I am happier with the result. It helps that my day wasn't hijacked for a change! I might not be able to do a painting a day for 30 days but I commit to painting, and the creative process, every day this month. Hopefully a lifetime habit!

30 In 30, Day 4 - "Sunrise From My Window" By Jennifer Thompson

Day 4 - I love waking before dawn and being able to watch the sunrise from our bedroom window. Brian and I sip coffee and munch on a piece of toast and wait to see what kind of show nature will surprise us with. This morning's sunrise was intense in color and drama. I noticed that for just a few seconds, before the sun was completely up, the sun seemed to intensify and pulse and sent a sun-glow band of light directly below on the mountains. Hard to describe and even harder to paint but I had to try.

30 In 30, Day 4 - "Harris Beach, Again" By Verna Pooler

Day 4 - Harris Beach again. The first time I did the plein air painting there was a man fishing. A few days later I went back to sketch  and there was a girl at the water's edge.  Harris Beach is a favorite spot full of memories...the painting is a quarter sheet, 15"x11".

30 In 30, Day 4 - "Whaleshead" By Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Day 4- I painted this at Whaleshead Beach in Brookings, OR around 8AM this morning. The morning fog was in the distance so it was beautiful.  My goal was to use limited strokes to describe this scene.
Suddenly, there was quite the commotion. A woman dislocated her knee while hiking on the beach.  Local volunteers and Cal Ore, a wonderful local  ambulance service, showed up.  The poor woman was in amazing great spirits as they used a stretcher to carrying her up the beach.
I chatted up the  park employee who was there, too, and he said there were whales at Harris Beach. So I finished my paintings and watched whales for an hour.
Ah... what an adventure.

"Waiting For The Sun" By Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas

Here is my painting of the Brookings/Harbor Port in Oregon. It is a 5"x7" oil painting.  It was a foggy day so I pushed the color. Not too much I hope.  Everything was gray. So I had to really squint and mix warm  and cool greys while watching those values.
